Lincoln Driven to Give is hosted by dealerships all across the nation. One recipient recently spotlighted by Lincoln is Magical Meadows, a therapeutic horseback riding center in Indiana.

"Since I can't see, it makes me feel really good that I can get on this 1,500-pound animal and actually control it," said Ashley Buss, 16, one of the riders of Magical Meadows. "I thought I was going to be at home the rest of my life -- that was going to be as good as it was going to get. Now, I actually have a dream. I actually have a plan for the future that doesn't include just doing nothing. I'm really excited about that."
The people who visit Magical Meadows have experienced first-hand the healing power of horses. Social animals by nature, horses can sense emotions, like anxiety, and they can show compassion. Not only are the horses an emotional support for many riders, like Ted Grubbs, an Iraq veteran struggling with PTSD, they are also a physical stimulation for muscles and coordination. Another rider, a young girl with cerebral palsy, hopes to learn to walk by the time she graduates high school with extra help and encouragement from her riding routine.
Like Magical Meadows, our local cause also strives to empower people with disabilities. My Possibilities offers continuing education for adults with cognitive disabilities, including vocational and trade skills, athletic training, independent living skills, and social clubs and events.
